Un mode d'emploi pour mettre du Xénon.

1. Remove the windshield and the support bracket.
2. Remove the GPS cockpit cover (two torx on top; remove two Phillips push pins; the front of the cover has two posts that push into rubber). Put a towel under it and let it hang on the headlight until you remove the instrument cluster and unplug the GPS plugs
3. Remove the speaker covers (two torx screws)
4. Remove the speakers (three torx each; and disconnect speaker plugs)
5. Remove the instrument cluster mount. On each side there is circlip that you need to remove. Push back with you thumb and be careful not to lose them. Once circlips are removed there are two plastic pieces that you remove that were held on by the circlips. On the left side of the mount use a flat blade screwdriver to push the holding tab to the right. The tab is shown in the fifth photo. The mount will then slide out. Unhook the instrument cluster harness and remove the mount and cluster.
6. Turn the wheel to the left (but not full left) and reach you hand in to remove the low beam waterproof cap. It is the same type of cap BMW has been using for years. Turn counterclockwise and it pops right off.
7. Remove the H7 bulb by unhooking the retention clamps on each side. Be careful not to bend them.
8. Crimp some spades onto two pieces of decent size wire about three feet in length (or longer if you want to get the wire to the back of the bike). Plug these spades into the low beam connector. These wires will be used to install a resistor to eliminate the lamp failure or to run a set of driving light that will eliminate the lamp failure
9. Drill a hole into the waterproof low beam cap using a step bit. Install the HID bulb wires through the rubber seal (the wires with spades in the low beam connector will also feed through this rubber seal. The power wires from the ballast will not go through the rubber seal because you cannot use the low beam circuit to power the HID. Install the rubber seal into the waterproof low beam cap.
10. Clean the HID bulb with alcohol and install into the bike.
11. Push the low beam connector back into the headlight opening and reinstall the rubber cap. Once installed carefully pull the slack of each of the four wires through the rubber seal.
12. Install a relay in the area of the battery as shown in my photos. The panel covering the battery and below the right cylinder is removed with two torx and is also help on by one post that pushes into a rubber grommet. (I forgot to take a photo of my relay after I zip tied it all up).
13. Fish the wires coming from the headlamp connector over to the area by the radiator cap.
14. I ran a piece of wire conduit from the battery area behind the Tupperware to the area above the radiator cap. Remove the right side panel. There are two torx. See my post above on how to remove it.
15. Run a good size wire through the conduit that will be used to power the HID.
16. I ran the ground for the HID to the ground wire post located behind the side panel removed in step no. 14.
17. The trigger wire I used for the relay is located in the plug under the drivers seat. I used the hot wire that feeds the 7.5 amp fuse. The red and green wire is the non-hot wire. I cannot remember the color of the hot wire but it is read and some other color. This is actually the high beam circuit. This circuit stays hot for 30 or 40 seconds after the bike is shut off. Your low beam will stay on for this amount of time. If you don't like the idea of having you low beam stay on for 30 or 40 seconds might try using the tail light wire to trigger he relay. I don't know if this wire is easy to get to but I assume you might find it under the passenger seat.
18. Install the slim ballast and ignitor below the windshield motor using double sided tape. Hook up the wires going to the HID bulb to the ballast. You may want to zip tie up the slack so you don't see the wires hanging down the dash is put back together.
19. Hook up all you wires and test out the HID. It should come on when the key is turned on. The bike does not need to be started. Run the bike for a while and feel all of your wires to make sure they are not getting warm. If they are warm or hot they are too small of gauge or your relay is installed incorrectly.
20. Clean up all you wiring and put the bike back together.
